During pregnancy, physiological changes take place in a woman’s body, which can result in pain and discomfort in the lower back, tension neck, leg swelling, etc. Medical taping can prevent or relieve pain/discomfort, reduce swelling.
Taping uses an elastic tape or tape made of cotton fabric and acrylic glue, which is hypoallergenic. It is similar to human skin and is air and water permeable but water resistant. The procedure is safe and painless. Adjacent phenomena are observed in very rare cases, if the skin is sensitive, itching or redness may occur.
In gynecology and obstetrics, taping can be used to reduce or prevent:
- Menstrual pain
- Abdominal and lower back pain in pregnant women
- Neck tension
- Swelling of legs or arms
- Lactostasis
- Muscle (linea alba) diastasis
- Scars after caesarean section
- After giving birth, to promote abdominal contraction
